Nat Status: Nationally Scarce A

Yorkshire Status: Rare and very local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Porritt (1907) commented that this species is 'very doubtful as a Yorkshire moth'. There are a number of published Yorkshire records but at present only the VC64 record is above suspicion.

2013 (CHF): The status of this moth in the county is still uncertain and some of the dots on the map may be incorrect. There has been one further genuine record in VC63 in 2001. This is a moth of open woodland and moorland where the larvae feed on bilberry. It is very similar in appearance to other members of the genus and verification requires dissection.
