In Porritt's time this species was commoner and he described it as "generally common on heaths and moors" in 1883 and in 1907. It certainly seems to be a lot more local now but we still receive small numbers of records from many upland areas of the county. It also occurs on our lowland heaths, most records being from Strensall Common. There are few records from Skipwith but there has been less trapping there in recent years. There are also very few records from Thorne Moors. Most of our big counts in the last few years have come from Keighley Moor where the maximum number is 18 at actinic light on 9/5/2020. This just shows the importance of good quality moorland. Occasionally wandering specimens are recorded from lowland areas eg one at Spofforth on 5.6.2008 and two very odd (but confirmed) records from the east of VC61 in 2019. It is difficult to know how well it is doing in Yorkshire as the number of records is proportional to the numbers of enthusiasts who trap in the right areas.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Apparently very local, mostly on high moors and less widely recorded than in previous years. Also recorded from sites just to the north of the County in Upper Teesdale (Dunn & Parrack, 1986).
