Yorkshire Status: Rare and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Records are thinly distributed across the County although there is none from VC64. There appears to be some confusion with the previous species in the older records, a record from Cloughton moor (VC62), 'larvae in seed heads of scabious' (Wilkinson, 1868) may refer to E. oblongana (Haworth). Certainly the present species is widespread in VC63 where it is frequently reared from seed heads of teasel, but investigation of its status elsewhere in the County is desirable. and often common in lower areas and occasional elsewhere in all five vice-counties.

Argus 58, 2009: Although this is a widely distributed and, at least in the south of the county, common moth these are the first records from VC64.

VC64. Ledsham, 14.8.2009 (JTR); Rodley NR, 2009 (PM). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.
