Yorkshire Status: Very common and fairly widespread resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Widespread and common throughout all five vice-counties.

2013 (CHF): Mines are widespread and common on hazel all across the county. This is the commoner of the two hazel-feeding species and identification is usually easy by looking at the start of the mine where the frass line is very thin leaving clear margins even in the earliest part. This contrasts with floslactella where the early gallery is filled with frass. The mine is a long very slender corridor with a thin central frass line, even at the end. It is often quite angular with long straight sections. This species also mines hornbeam where the mines may be shorter and broader. There are often several mines in one leaf.

Mine: Either the leaf or a good photograph required
