Yorkshire Status: Rare and local resident.

This is a much less common moth than it's sister species, O. salaciella. We have scattered records across all five vice-counties. Its food plant is thought to be water mint, so it is a moth of damp habitats. As the name suggests, it flies at dusk around the food plant. The white eyecaps at the base of the antennae and the oblique brown stripes on the white wings are characteristic, so it should not be mistaken for any other species. It is rather an elusive creature, and many years we receive no records at all.

Recorded in 12 (6%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1859.
Last Recorded in 2022.
