Yorkshire Status: Rare and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Undoubtedly under-recorded this moth occurs thinly in vice-counties 62 to 64 but seldom comes under notice unless looked for among old honeycombs.

Beaumont, 2002:

VC61. Hornsea, emerged July 1997 from old honeycombs (HEB, ASE). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 47, 2001-2004:

VC65. Hutton Conyers, 23.8.2001 (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 50, 2005: Beekeepers have reported this moth to be widespread across the county (Colin Howes), usually infesting stored honeycombs rather than active hives. This has long been suspected although records of moths attracted to lights of lepidopterists have been few. These have been of female moths presumably making dispersal flights to found new colonies.
