Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Yorkshire records under this name are widespread and moths locally very common but not recorded from VC65. Recently Gibeaux (1987) has split the taxon into five species, four of which may occur in Yorkshire. They are S. bipunctidactyla (Scopoli), S. picardi (Gibeaux), S. scabiodactyla (Gregson) and S. aridus (Zeller) (=gallobritannidactyla Gibeaux). Investigation of this species complex will be necessary to clarify the position in the County.
