Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This is not a common species in Yorkshire, and we receive few records. It flies on sunny days around its foodplant (usually ash or wild privet) in May and June and sometimes comes to light. It is similar in appearance to Nemophora degeerella but is considerably smaller, and the central crossband is closer to the center of the wing. The male antennae are only twice the length of the forewing, compared to x4 with degeerella.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Quite widely recorded but local in vice-counties 61 to 64.

Recorded in 15 (8%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1883.
Last Recorded in 2023.
