Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

Searching for this species has revealed it to be commoner than expected and it may have been previously overlooked in the county. Most records are of the larval case on algae and lichen on tree trunks. This has a characteristic shape being domed in cross section and tapered at both ends with a broad flat ventral surface, slight lateral flanges and is triangular at the oral end. It is usually pale greyish green. We have records scattered across all five vice-counties. Both sexes are winged, and occasionally come to light.
