Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This species was added to the Yorkshire list in 1999 when a moth was found at Anston Stones Wood in VC63. There were no further records until 2013 but since then it has become increasingly common, and by 2021, it had been seen in all five vice-counties. This is the largest Tineid species in the UK, and in common with several other members of this family, the larvae feed in bracket fungi. Frass hanging by silk threads below the fungus may indicate larvae within. The large size should make identification relatively straightforward.

Recorded in 24 (12%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1999.
Last Recorded in 2024.
