Yorkshire Status: Rare resident.

This species was first found in the county in 2006 when larval tubes were found on a wall in Guisborough. Since then there have been several more similar records dotted around the county, and two records of adult moths. There is no record yet from VC65. The most usual way of recording its presence it to look for long silken tubes formed by the larvae. These are formed on top of lichens and are covered with lichen fragments, usually in shady places on walls or rocks or sometimes on tree trunks. The larva pupates in the tube. Adults are occasionally seen flying on sunny days in July and August. It is likely to be more common than the dots on the map suggest.
