Yorkshire Status: Scarce and local resident.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Local, most frequent in the north of the County.

2013 (CHF): Less common and more local than Monopis laevigella with which it is sometimes confused. Most records are at light and it is much less common in nest boxes. The larvae may feed on decaying animal carcasses. The distinct pale tornal spot is much more pronounced than in laevigella and the hyaline spot is usually more pronounced and not as close to the base of the wing.
