Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

Porritt knew this species from two sites, Yorks and Sheffield, but it was not found again until 2003. Since then, it has been found fairly commonly across the county wherever aspen grows, both native and planted varieties. Virtually all of our records are of larval mines. The larva initially mines the petiole of an aspen leaf forming a small swollen gall. It then moves to the leaf itself where it forms an elongate blotch between the midrib and the first lateral vein giving rise to a green island which can be very distinctive as the leaf turns brown in the autumn.
