Yorkshire Status: Rare adventive.

This adventive species was first recorded in the UK in 2004 when it was found under glass in south-west England in 'sticky light traps' operated to control another species. In 2005 it was recorded outdoors on Guernsey, Channel Islands where further moths were found subsequently There is probably a resident population here and also on Scilly. The only Yorkshire record to date, from Skelton (VC62) on 15/8/2008 was probably the first time that it has been found outdoors in mainland Britain. It is now widely encountered around the world. It's origins are obscure, but it might hail from St Helena. The larvae feed on decaying vegetation.
