Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

This is a relatively new species to the country, being first found in the London area in 1990. It spread rapidly and was first recorded in Yorkshire in York in 2007. By 2021 we had records from all five vice-counties. The larvae form large blister mines on London plane. These can be on either side of the leaf, unlike similar species which just mine the underside. There are often several mines on a single leaf. It has now reached the point where it is unusual to find a tree without mines! Virtually all of our records are of leaf mines. There are few records of adult moths. The mines cannot be confused with any other species, but the adults are rather reminiscent of Phyllonorycter messaniella.

Recorded in 33 (17%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 2007.
Last Recorded in 2023.
