Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

Porritt in 1883 was just able to list Richmond and Scarborough for this species, and it did not turn up until a century later in 1984 when it was found at Ashberry Pastures. Records have gradually increased since then, and by 2010 we had records from all five vice-counties, so that we now have scattered records all across the county. The resting "head-down" posture is characteristic of this genus and rather similar to Argyresthia species. This should separate it from similarly-marked moths such as Caloptilia sp which are very much "head-up". Adults over-winter in dense cover such as yew, and reappear in the spring after hibernation.
