Yorkshire Status: Fairly resident.

This is a much commoner moth in Yorkshire than the rather similar Y. alpella from which it can be separated by its longer cross bars and darker colouration. It is fairly well distributed across oak-rich areas of the county, and by 2003 we had records from all five vice-counties, though it seems to exist at a low density, and 90% of our records are of single moths. This suggests that it does not come strongly to light and may be commoner than the records suggest.
