Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This species is rather like a more-attractive version of Diamond-back Moth. It's distribution is a bit patchy, but it has been recorded widely across the county, and our population seems to be healthy. The larvae feed on Dames's violet, probably in three broods, so it turns up in a variety of habitats including gardens. It is usually an easy moth to identify, and looks more broad-winged than Diamond-back Moth. The name porrectella refers to its porrect or "outstretched" antennae, which are always held forward in this family of moths, the Plutellidae.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Recorded quite widely and sometimes commonly in vice-counties 61 to 64.

Recorded in 58 (29%) of 200 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1859.
Last Recorded in 2023.
