Yorkshire Status: Very rare resident.

Despite meadowsweet being a common plant all across the county, this is a very unusual species and we just have the one record - vacated mines on meadowsweet on 29/10/2017 at Reighton Gap. Diptera mines on meadowsweet are common, and these can sometimes resemble Stigmella mines, but there is no egg shell at the start of the mine, and the frass is usually in two lines. A typical mine of Stigmella filipendulae is a gradually widening corridor. The first, narrow, part often closely follows the leaf margin. Frass is in a central, interrupted line, gradually widening from a beginning, to form a small blotch.
