Yorkshire Status: Fairly common resident.

Porritt described this species as "abundant everywhere". It is certainly a lot more common nowadays than the previous gorse-feeding species, A. umbellana, but I doubt whether we could really call it abundant now. The larvae will also feed on broom, The name nervosa refers to the scaling demarcating the veins of the forewing, and this can be a useful feature, but the pinkish or purplish-brown terminal cilia on the forewing is probably the best thing to look out for. Worn specimens can be tricky.
