Yorkshire Status: Local resident.

This moth was "widely distributed and often abundant" according to Porritt in 1907. It is still fairly well distributed apart from some upland and western areas, but the only places where it could be considered "abundant" are some wetland areas with a lot of angelica. It is said that at times it will also feed on hogweed. It was not until 2003 that we had records from all five vice-counties. It is a fairly easy species to identify when fresh.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: Quite widely distributed, usually in small numbers, in vice-counties 61 to 63 with most records coming from the Rotherham and Doncaster districts.
