Yorkshire Status: Common and fairly widespread resident.

National Status: Common

Formerly Blastobasis decolorella. Originally not a British species, this moth was accidentally introduced and appears to be established and expanding its range.

Sutton & Beaumont, 1989: A moth which has extended its range in Britain considerably in recent years, first recorded in Yorkshire in 1979.

VC63. Tinsley Park, 22.6.1979; Aldwarke, Rotherham, recorded in small numbers annually 1979 to 1986 det. HEB (JDB). NEW COUNTY RECORD

Beaumont, 2002: This species has also become much more frequent and widespread 1989 but there is as yet no record from vice-counties 64 or 65.

VC61. Cottingham, first recorded in 1991 det. HEB and then annually in increasing numbers (PAC). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

Argus 47, 2001-2004: Like B. lignea this moth has also spread across the county and it is recorded widely in all five vice-counties but usually in small numbers.

VC64. Ripon Parks, 14.6.2002 (CHF, JCW, SPW); Sharow, 19.5.2002, since frequent (JCW); Cawood, 2003 det. HEB (JP); Ellington Banks , 9.7.2003 (CHF, JCW, SPW). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD. VC65. Hutton Conyers, 23.6.2001, commonly since (CHF). NEW VICE-COUNTY RECORD.

First Recorded in 1979.
Last Recorded in 2024.
